Do you know how I should configure the io26 to see all of them? I have tried using direct, stereo, etc. Here's my question: my system *seems* more stable using the ASIO drivers, but when I look in the Sonar inputs/outputs I only see the odd numbered io26 channels listed.

Updating from the 1/28/08 io26 drivers to the ones released 3/17 improved things a little (ie: instead of immediate BSOD I can now record up to 30 seconds of audio before I get BSOD). in Sonar - but I frequently get the BSOD with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error referencing AlesisFirewire.sys. When using WDM drivers and your config suggestions above, I can see all inputs/outputs etc. PC Hardware: 4GB RAM Core Duo 2.0 ghz Vaio laptop running Vista + SP1 released yesterdayĪlesis: running the v3.

I need a quick portable recording solution and don't have time to wait for the Sonar 7 media to arrive in the mail, so am hoping to determine if this hardware/software combo will work before I upgrade. I am new to the forums but a long time Cake/Sonar user (Pro Audio 4/6/8 -> Sonar 2.2) and am testing the 7.0 trail version to see if it plays nicely with my Alesis io26.

The control panels have changed with various driver updates, but the manuals still have the original control panel, which doesn't have these controls or any hint of instructions about this. I assume the io14 and io26 have similar options in the control panel, with variations depending on the number of input and output channels. Apparently that has an impact on the mapping of channels in "direct" mode, which could make a real mess. I notice further that you can select "7.1" in the input configuration, and there again you can select different physical channels for each of the 7.1 channels. Then I switched input configuration back to "direct." Then in Sonar I found the channel mapping was straightened out. Then I selected "stereo" for the input configuration and found you can then select ANY of the input pairs for stereo in. The ASIO channel mapping is also correct. I found my input device plugged into channels 1&2 was coming into Sonar on channels 17/18, while the main inputs were coming in on channels 1/2 !!! The other channels were mapped correctly. In order to use all the channels of the interface, the "System Sounds" and "System sounds configurations" sections have to be set right.ġst - "system sounds" needs to be "enabled" to activate WDM drivers.Ģnd - "System Sounds configuration" input and output both need to be set to "direct" in the dropdown lists to get ALL the channels.Īt least that is true for my Multimix 16.

If you use one of these Alesis Firewire interfaces with WDM drivers there is something strange about the control panel, and you might not see the channel selections you expect. Alesis Firewire io26 and Multimix ctrl panel
